Arrogance

Definition of arrogance:

On page 16 of the 96-page book "Takbar" published by Maktabat al-Madinah, the universal non-political movement of spreading the Qur'an and Sunnah, the name of arrogance is to consider oneself superior to others. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Al-Kibr Batr al-Haqqi wa Ghamat al-Nas means arrogance is the name of opposing the truth and despising people.”[1]

Imam Raghib Isfahani, may Allah have mercy on him, writes: "Arrogance is that a person considers himself superior to others." Disease Information, pages 275, 276)

Blessed verse:

Allah Almighty says in the Holy Qur'an: (He does not love the arrogant (23)) (Q14, Al-Nahl: 23) Translation of Kanzala-e-Iman: "Surely He does not like the arrogant."

In another place, he says: (And do not walk on the earth in pleasure - you will not cross the earth and you will not reach the heights of the mountains (37)) (P. 15, Bani Israel: 37) Translation of Kanzal Iman: It will not tear the earth and it will never reach the mountains in height.

The unbeliever says about the proud: (Fadhkhulua abwaab jahannam khalidin fihaa-falabis matshwa al-mutkabireen (29)) (Q14, Al-Nahl: 29) translation of Kanzal-e-Iman: The abode of the proud.” (Information on Internal Diseases, page 276)

Blessed Hadith, Shame on the Arrogant:

The Holy Prophet Rauf Rahim, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “On the Day of Resurrection, the arrogant will be raised like ants in human form, they will be humiliated from all sides, and they will be sent to the prison called the Bulls of Hell. They will be pushed aside and a huge fire will engulf them and overcome them, they will be fed with the pus of the Hell-bound people.

Three types of arrogance and their order:

(1)..."Arrogance in comparison with Allah, the Most High." This type of arrogance is disbelief, like the disbelief of Pharaoh when he said: P30, Al-Nazaat: 24. 25) Translation of Kunzal Iman: "I am your highest Lord, so Allah caught him in the punishment of both this world and the hereafter."

To guide Pharaoh, Allah sent Hazrat Sayyiduna Musa Kaleemullah and Hazrat Sayyiduna Haroon Ali Nabiinna wa Alaihihima salata wa sallam, but he denied both of them, so the Lord Almighty drowned him and his people in the Nile River [4]. ]

The commentators, may God have mercy on him, say: "Allah threw Pharaoh like a dead ox on the riverbank so that he would become a sign of lesson for the rest of the Israelites and other people and make it clear to them that A person who is unjust and arrogant in the name of Allah, may Allah be pleased with him, will be caught in such a way that he will be thrown into a state of humiliation and humiliation.''[5]

(2)..."Arrogance compared to the messengers of Allah." And imagining how to obey the order of a human being like the common people, as some disbelievers said contemptuously about the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): (41)) (P19, Al-Furqan: 41) Translation of Kanzala-e-Iman: "Are these whom Allah has sent as messengers?" ) (P25, Al-Zukharf: 31) Translation of Kanzal-e-Iman: "Why was this Qur'an not revealed to a great man of these two cities?"

(3)..."Arrogance in comparison with the servants." That is, being arrogant towards any of the creatures other than Allah and the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, in such a way that he considers himself superior and despises others. Knowingly seeking greatness over it and disliking equality means mutual equality. Although this form is less than the first two forms, it is also forbidden and its sin is also very great, because the greatness and majesty of the king is worthy of the true honor and glory and not of a humble and weak servant. (Disease Information, pp. 277-279)

Eight causes and remedies for arrogance:

(1)... The first cause of arrogance is knowledge that sometimes a person suffers from the calamity of arrogance even because of the abundance of knowledge. The remedy for this is to remember the fate of the devil who reached the position of the teacher of the kingdom, that he arrogantly declared himself better than Hazrat Sayyiduna Adam Safi Allah alaihi nabiinna wa alayhi salawat wa sallam, but he was the result of this arrogance. Versui was humiliated until the Day of Resurrection and he was entitled to Hell. Let not this arrogance destroy us too.

(2)... The second cause of arrogance is worship and practice. A person suffers from this disease due to too much worship and practice. The cure for this is that if the person thinks that if I do a lot of worship, what is my perfection in it? This is the grace of this Lord Almighty, and worship will only be useful in which the intention is correct, all the conditions are met. The servant should fear himself in such a way that this act of worship that I am boasting about, because of this arrogance of mine, instead of being accepted in the presence of God Almighty, becomes dead and instead of entering Paradise, it becomes the cause of entering Hellfire.

(3)... The third cause of arrogance is wealth and wealth. He who has a car, bungalow, bank balance and servants for work also sometimes suffers from arrogance. One day it will come that he will have to leave all this here and leave the world empty-handed, there is a bag in the shroud and not a safe in the grave, then the light of goodness will illuminate the grave and not gold and silver and the glitter of wealth and wealth. . Therefore, why should we be angry with our Lord by being arrogant because of this mortal and forsaken thing?

(4)... The fourth reason for arrogance is according to lineage, that the servant is proud of his ancestors and despises others. The remedy for this is that the person should make his Madani mind that boasting about the achievements of others is not wisdom but ignorance and a promise of hell for those who are proud of their parents and ancestors. Therefore, the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: "People who are proud of their deceased ancestors should refrain because they are the coals of hell, or those people are even from these insects of dirt in the sight of Allah. Those who wipe dirt with their noses will be despised. Allah Almighty has removed from you the arrogance of ignorance and their boasting about their ancestors. Now a person will be pious and a believer or a wretched and wicked person. ) and Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) was created from clay.

(5)... The fifth cause of arrogance is position and position. The remedy for this is that the servant should make up his mind that pride in mortals is ignorance, because how long will honor and position support each other? The position that you are proud of today, if you are stripped of it tomorrow, you will have to hide your face from the same people who treat you with contempt today. The people who are shouted at today, maybe tomorrow they will do something that will destroy our pride. Therefore, no matter what position or position you get, you should not forget your time.

(6)… The sixth cause of arrogance is success and dominance. The cure for this is that the person should not forget that time does not stay the same, those who reach the heights often have to come back to the lows, every perfection has a fall, one should thank Allah for success and not his own. Looking down on others while imagining perfection. The person should also keep in mind that what I consider to be success is only the success of this world which will end one day or the other, the real success is that I take faith from this world and prepare for the hereafter while living in this world. Please please my Lord.

(7)... The seventh reason for arrogance is beauty and beauty. The remedy for this is that a person should consider his beginning and end, that my beginning is an impure sperm and my end is a rotten dead body, and beauty does not remain the same in every period of age, but with the passage of time, it also fades. Keep in mind that urine, faeces, smelly sweat, faeces and other filth come out of my same beautiful body every day. I clean the faeces and urine with my hands. Gives? Surely not.

(8)... The eighth reason for arrogance is strength and power. If someone who is tall, eats and drinks well and has a broad chest, he sometimes starts to look down on those with a weak body. The remedy for this is that a person should take account of his self in such a way that strength and movement are also found in animals, but they are more than humans, so how can he be proud of a common trait in himself and animals? Although the strength and power of our body is such that if we get a little sick, all the intoxication of strength goes away, the slightest heat cannot be tolerated. If you are given the punishment of a severe fire, how will you bear it? [8]
