Kagan Valley is a beautiful valley in Mansehra District, Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa, which is world famous for its natural beauty. Many well-known recreational and beautiful places in the northern parts of Pakistan are located in this valley. A catastrophic earthquake on October 8, 2005, also damaged the valley. The Kagan Valley is named after the town of Kagan. The river Kunhar flows into the heart of this valley. The valley is 2134 meters from Babusar Pass to 4173 meters above sea level and spreads over 155 kilometers. The population is fluent in Pashto and Urdu. The area is covered with forests and pastures and the beautiful scenery makes it a paradise on earth. There are also peaks up to 17,000 feet high. Among them are Makra Choti and Malika Parbat. This valley of mountains, streams, lakes, waterfalls, springs and glaciers awaits tourists in summer (May to September). The maximum temperature in May is 11 degrees Celsius and the minimum is 3 degrees Celsius. The road from Naran to Babusar Pass is open from mid-July to the end of September. In the rainy and winter seas, transportation in the valley becomes difficult. This beautiful valley is easily accessible from Balakot, Abbottabad and Mansehra. Kagan or Naran can be easily reached from Balakot by buses or other means of transport. The Kunhar River flows along all the way from Balakot to Naran and the beautiful forests and mountains are inviting. Along the way are the beautiful towns of Kiwai, Paras, Shino, (Ochri) Jarid and Mahendra.

Saif al-Muluk, one of the most beautiful lakes in Pakistan, is located in the same valley, just 6 km from Naran at an altitude of 10,500 feet above sea level. Hussain Anso Lake is also located in the mountains a few kilometers away from Saif al-Muluk.
