Eclipse in the light of Islam

Whenever the sun is eclipsed, Muslims should turn their attention to the Creator of the universe, perform two rak'ats of prayers in congregation without the adhan and iqamah, and ask Allah Almighty for good supplications. Some scholars are of the opinion that they can perform more than two rak'ahs. The recitation should be done slowly, although in the opinion of some scholars it can be read aloud. Individual prayers should be offered on the occasion of a lunar eclipse, although according to some scholars, it is permissible to offer prayers in congregation. This prayer should not be offered at times when it is forbidden to offer it, although some scholars are of the opinion that it can be offered at times that are makrooh. The prayer offered on the occasion of a solar eclipse is called the eclipse prayer, while the prayer offered on the occasion of the lunar eclipse is called the eclipse prayer. In this prayer, the recitation, bowing and prostration should be made so long that the eclipse ends as soon as the prayer is recited, because it has been proven by the Holy Prophet (saw). Some scholars are of the opinion that two rak'ahs should be performed in each rak'ah. The bottom line is that the Hanafi scholars are of the opinion that on this occasion two rak'ats should be offered like normal prayers and on the occasion of solar eclipse with congregation but slowly recitation, while on the occasion of lunar eclipse individual prayers should be offered. Yes, if it is being played with a party in a place like Saudi Arabia, you can participate in it. In these two prayers, long standing, bowing and prostration should be done. Allah Almighty should also be mentioned and good prayers should be asked.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Bakra that an eclipse took place in the time of the Holy Prophet. He reached the mosque (quickly) dragging his chador. The Companions gathered around you. He prayed two rak'ats for them and the eclipse ended. Then he said: The sun and the moon are two of the signs of Allah. These eclipses are not due to the death of anyone (rather, like other creatures in the heavens and the earth, they are ruled by Allah and their light and darkness are in the hands of Allah). So when there is an eclipse of the sun and the moon Engage in prayers and supplications until their eclipse is over. Since Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), died (on the same day) and some people started saying that the eclipse was due to his death, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said this. (Bukhari. Chapter of Salat per Eclipse of the Moon) It is narrated from Hazrat Ayesha that an eclipse took place in the time of the Holy Prophet. After completing the prayer, he said: The sun and the moon are two signs of Allah. Both are not eclipsed by someone's death or birth. O people! When you have this opportunity, engage in the remembrance of Allah, pray, takbeer and rejoice, offer prayers and give charity. It is narrated on the authority of Nu'man ibn Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: When the sun or the moon is eclipsed, pray in the same manner as you performed this last prayer ۔ (Feminine. Chapter of Salat al-Kusuf) Hazrat Qabisa (may Allah be pleased with her) says that we were in Madinah with the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) when the eclipse took place.         Translation urdu,
جب بھی سورج گرہن ہوجائے تو مسلمانوں کو چاہئے کہ خالق کائنات کی طرف متوجہ ہوں، دو رکعت نماز اذان واقامت کے بغیرباجماعت ادا کریں اور اللہ تعالیٰ سے خوب دعائیں مانگیں۔ بعض علماء کی رائے ہے کہ دو رکعت سے زیادہ بھی ادا کرسکتے ہیں۔ قراء ت آہستہ پڑھنی چاہئے، اگرچہ بعض علماء کی رائے میں بلند آواز کے ساتھ بھی پڑھ سکتے ہیں۔ چاند گرہن کے موقعہ پر انفرادی نماز پڑھنی چاہئے، اگرچہ بعض علماء کی رائے کے مطابق جماعت کے ساتھ بھی پڑھنے کی گنجائش ہے۔ اُن اوقات میں یہ نماز نہیں پڑھنی چاہئے جن اوقات میں نماز پڑھنا منع ہے، اگرچہ بعض علماء کی رائے ہے کہ اوقات مکروہہ میں بھی پڑھ سکتے ہیں۔ سورج گرہن (Solar Eclipse) کے موقع پر پڑھی جانے والی نماز کو صلاۃ الکسوف، جبکہ چاند گرہن (Lunar Eclipse) کے موقع پر پڑھی جانے والی نماز کو صلاۃ الخسوف کہتے ہیں۔ اس نمازمیں قراء ت، رکوع اور سجدہ وغیرہ کو اتنا لمبا کرنا چاہئے کہ نماز پڑھتے پڑھتے ہی گرہن ختم ہوجائے، کیونکہ نبی اکرم  سے اسی طرح ثابت ہے۔جس طرح سے دورکعت نماز پڑھی جاتی ہے اُسی طریقہ سے یہ نماز پڑھی جائے گی، اگرچہ بعض علماء کا موقف ہے کہ ہر رکعت میں دو رکوع کئے جائیں۔ خلاصہ کلام یہ ہے کہ علماء احناف کی رائے ہے کہ اس موقع پر دو رکعات عام نماز کی طرح پڑھی جائے اور سورج گرہن کے موقع پر جماعت کے ساتھ لیکن آہستہ قراء ت سے ، جبکہ چاند گرہن کے موقع پر انفرادی نماز ادا کی جائے۔ ہاں اگر کسی جگہ مثلاً سعودی عرب میں جماعت کے ساتھ ادا ہورہی ہو تو اس میں شریک ہوسکتے ہیں۔ اِن دونوں نمازوں میں لمبے قیام ورکوع اور سجدے کیے جائیں۔ اللہ تعالیٰ کا ذکر بھی کیا جائے اور خوب دعائیں مانگی جائیں۔

حضرت ابو بکرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کے زمانہ میں سورج گرہن ہوا۔ آپ ﷺ اپنی چادر گھسیٹتے ہوئے (تیزی سے) مسجد پہنچے۔ صحابۂ کرام آپ کے پاس جمع ہوگئے۔ آپ ﷺ نے انھیں دو رکعت نماز پڑھائی اور گرہن بھی ختم ہوگیا۔ اس کے بعد آپ ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا: سورج اور چاند اللہ تعالیٰ کی نشانیوں میں سے دو نشانیاں ہیں۔ کسی کی موت کی وجہ سے یہ گرہن نہیں ہوتے(بلکہ زمین اور آسمان کی دوسری مخلوقات کی طرح ان پر بھی اللہ تعالیٰ کا حکم چلتا ہے اور ان کی روشنی وتاریکی اللہ تعالیٰ کے ہاتھ میں ہے) اس لئے جب سورج اور چاند گرہن ہو تو اس وقت تک نماز اور دعا میں مشغول رہو جب تک ان کا گرہن ختم نہ ہوجائے۔ چونکہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کے صاحبزادے حضرت ابراہیم رضی اللہ عنہ کی وفات (اسی دن) ہوئی تھی اور بعض لوگ یہ کہنے لگے تھے کہ گرہن ان کی موت کی وجہ سے ہوا ہے، اس لئے رسول اللہ ﷺ نے یہ بات ارشاد فرمائی۔ (بخاری ۔ باب الصلاۃ فی کسوف القمر) حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کے زمانہ میں سورج گرہن ہوا. نماز سے فارغ ہوکر آپ ﷺنے فرمایا: سورج اور چاند اللہ تعالیٰ کی دو نشانیاں ہیں۔ یہ دونوں کسی کے مرنے یا پیدا ہونے سے گرہن نہیں ہوتے۔ اے لوگو! جب تم کو یہ موقعہ پیش آئے تو اللہ کے ذکر میں مشغول ہوجاؤ، دعا مانگو، تکبیر وتہلیل کرو، نماز پڑھو اور صدقہ وخیرات ادا کرو۔ (مسلم ۔ باب صلاۃ الکسوف) حضرت نعمان بن بشیر رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم ﷺ نے فرمایا جب سورج یا چاند گرہن ہوجائے تو اسی کیفیت پر نماز پڑھو جس طرح تم نے یہ آخری نماز پڑھی ہے (نماز فجر کی طرح)۔ (نسائی ۔ باب صلاۃ الکسوف) حضرت قبیصہ رضی اللہ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ ہم رسول اللہ ﷺ کے ہمراہ مدینہ منورہ میں تھے کہ سورج گرہن ہوگیا۔ آپ گھبراکر جلدی سے باہر نکلے اپنے کپڑے کو کھنچتے ہوئے اور دو رکعت خوب لمبی پڑھیں۔ نسائی ۔ باب صلاۃ الکسوف
