After the death of the Prophet, at the suggestion of Umar ibn al-Khattab, by the order of the first caliph, Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, and under the leadership of Zayd ibn Thabit Ansari, the Qur'an was compiled into a Mushaf. After the death of Umar ibn al-Khattab, this copy remained in the possession of Umm al-Mu'minin Hafsa bint Umar. When the third caliph 'Uthman ibn Affan noticed a difference in the recitation due to differences in dialects, he asked Hafsa for permission to copy the manuscript written in the dialect of the Quraysh so that it could be standardized. After receiving permission, he made several copies of the Mushaf and sent them all over the Islamic world and ordered all Muslims to follow this Mushaf. He also kept one of these manuscripts. All these manuscripts are now called Ottoman Mushafs. Most of the researchers agree that all these manuscripts were exact copies of the manuscript prepared by Abu Bakr and there was no shortage of them.
According to Muslims, the Qur'an is a miracle of the Prophet Muhammad and its verses challenge all human beings that no one can imitate it.
